Meet Regina
Regina Arras
M·A·T Pilates Certified Instructor
Bachelor of Science, Aerospace Engineering

A New York native, Regina received her B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL, in 2004. After a move to Seattle in 2005, she rediscovered Pilates as a training and practice all of its own and began to pursue an in-depth study of the method. In 2008, she decided to make Pilates a vocation and began studying at Metropolitan Pilates under the guidance of master teacher-trainer Dorothee VandeWalle. Regina became certified in 2009 after completing over 800 hours of comprehensive training including seminars, observation, practice, and both practical and written examinations all while maintaining a full-time position as a Structural Liaison Engineer for The Boeing Company.

Regina's training as both a dancer and an engineer has given her a unique outlook on both her ongoing Pilates training and her teaching style. She approaches Pilates from a logical engineer's perspective, dissecting the mechanics of each exercise, and from the artistic perspective of a dancer, always pursuing and appreciating the beauty and elegance of each movement. This distinctive approach has served her well as a Pilates instructor, allowing her to tailor her teaching style to maximize her students' learning and results.

Regina has worked with a diverse group of clients including professional athletes, actors, engineers, restauranteurs, massage therapists, runners, cyclists, dancers, and those with a wide range of ailments. She has helped clients with conditions ranging from nerve issues including pinched nerves and sciatica to structural imbalances including severe lower back pain, kyphosis, lordosis, and scoliosis. She recognizes the need to customize each session to the client's style of learning, and knows how to coordinate a personalized Pilates workout that will benefit each individual while always focusing on safety. Regina's comprehensive training and teaching experience has equipped her with the ability to modify and tailor a Pilates program for different levels of fitness and for those who are injured or are recovering from injury.

Regina continues to practice regularly under some of the industry's most sought after instructors, including Alycea Ungaro and Daniel Lyon, Jr. at Real Pilates in New York City. Regina has participated in continuing education workshops, seminars, and intensives with Dorothee VandeWalle, Alycea Ungaro, Jay Grimes, Peter Fiasca, and Siri Dharma Galliano, and continues to do so as often as she can.

Today, Regina continues to straddle both the Aerospace and the Fitness Industries, working for "New York's Hometown Airline" as an Aircraft Structures Engineer, providing personalized Pilates instruction on Long Island, NY, as well as bringing Pilates apparatus engineering, maintenance and repair services to Pilates studio owners in the Tri-State area!

By utilizing her engineering and Pilates backgrounds, Regina hopes to help promote the importance of Pilates equipment maintenance to ensure client safety.
